Each original has its own history. Film stock, exposure, processing, storage conditions and physical damage all influence what remains within the image. Some photographs reveal remarkable colour and detail once decades of fading, dust and discolouration are addressed. Others have suffered permanent damage that cannot be recovered without inventing information that is no longer there.

Every photograph is approached individually, with the aim of recovering the strongest and most faithful image the surviving material allows. These examples represent possibility, not a predetermined result
